THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN

Q1.
A1.The Pied Piper entered the city street smiling.He was quite confident of the power of his pipe.When he started playing the pipe like a skilful magician,his eyes shone brightly.His eyes are compared to the flame of a candle.

Q2.
A2.Rats of all sizes,colours and ages followed the Piper.There were grey,brown,black and tawny rats.Thin ones and strong ones,big ones and small ones.There were old rats and young,entire families of rats followed the Piper.

Q3.
A3.The Piper drew the dancing rats on with his music,until they reached the river Weser,where all the rats plunged into the river and drowned.

Q4.
A4.In the second section of the poem,we see that the Piper played his Pipe and led all the children of the city into a cave from where they never returned.

Q5.
A5.When the Piper played his pipe,all the children were so charmed and they all clapped and danced to his tune and made all kinds of sounds to express their joy.As they trooped out of their houses,they resembled a merry crowd rushing to get somewhere or a flock of fowls rushing out to the barn yard where their food is being scattered.

a)The magic to attract all the rats of Hamelin with the irresistable tune on his pipe and take them out of the town.

b)He blew the shrill notes tempting enough to have an hypnotic effect on the rats.

c)Rats of all shapes and sizes,from every nook and corner of Hamelin came out onto the streets and followed the Pied Piper to river Weser where they plunged to their death.

a)The lines mean that not even the cleverest of musician had ever played such soft ,sweet, irresistible and enticing tune.

b)As an effect all the children of Hamelin ran out onto the streets in a hypnotic trance and merrily followed the Pied Piper.
