The old artist sold his dolls at the fair in the palace. The girls in
the palace bought them.

fair was held in the palace courtyard every year. At the end of each
fair all the artisans would honour the old man as the best amongst
them.

Kishanlal arrived,no one wanted to buy old artist's dolls,so his
income fell sharply.Eventually, he went to the village to stay with
his daughter.

old artist started making dolls again because his granddaughter
Subhadra asked him to.He thought he would sell them and collect gold
coins to make a garland of gold coins for Subhadra when her groom
comes.

A5.Subhadra
was not able to sell her grandfather's dolls at the palace,so
Kishanlal took the dolls from her ,gave them a new look and helped
her to sell them at the palace.The girls in the palace bought the
dolls.

old man said this to Kishanlal.
b)When
the old man discovered that Kishanlal was the one who had helped
Subhadra sell the old artist's dolls at the palace,he blessed
Kishanlal, but is grieved at the thought of losing his beloved
granddaughter. He tells him that it was because of him that he had to
give up making dolls and now he was taking away his granddaughter,Subhadra, his favourite doll.

A3.The
old artist was nearly eighty years old.He made dolls and sold them at
the palace.He was very gifted and all the other artisans honoured him
at the fair.He loved his granddaughter and wanted to give her a
garland of gold coins for her marriage.At first he was very sad when
everyone started buying the dolls made by Kishanlal.But later he
accepted the new wave and welcomed Kishanlal as the grand son-in-law.
