CLASS 6-THE NEW WAVE


The New Wave

Q1.
A1. The old artist sold his dolls at the fair in the palace. The girls in the palace bought them.

Q2.
A2.The fair was held in the palace courtyard every year. At the end of each fair all the artisans would honour the old man as the best amongst them.

Q3.
A3.After Kishanlal arrived,no one wanted to buy old artist's dolls,so his income fell sharply.Eventually, he went to the village to stay with his daughter.

Q4.
A4.The old artist started making dolls again because his granddaughter Subhadra asked him to.He thought he would sell them and collect gold coins to make a garland of gold coins for Subhadra when her groom comes. 
  
Q5.
A5.Subhadra was not able to sell her grandfather's dolls at the palace,so Kishanlal took the dolls from her ,gave them a new look and helped her to sell them at the palace.The girls in the palace bought the dolls.

EX A2.

a)Kishanlal,the new artist, is being talked about here.

b)He left some of his dolls incomplete and some he didn't paint fully.

c)Times had changed and so had the taste of the girls.They found the incomplete dolls of Kishanlal more fascinating.

2.
a)The old artist said this to his granddaughter Subhadra.

b)Kishanlal,the new,young artist is the groom that she has found out.

c)He had helped her sell the dolls made by her grandfather. Subhadra was not able to sell the dolls made by her grandfather at the palace, so Kishanlal took the dolls from her, gave them a new look and helped her sell them at the palace.

3.
a)The old man said this to Kishanlal.
b)When the old man discovered that Kishanlal was the one who had helped Subhadra sell the old artist's dolls at the palace,he blessed Kishanlal, but is grieved at the thought of losing his beloved granddaughter. He tells him that it was because of him that he had to give up making dolls and now he was taking away his granddaughter,Subhadra, his favourite doll.

A3.The old artist was nearly eighty years old.He made dolls and sold them at the palace.He was very gifted and all the other artisans honoured him at the fair.He loved his granddaughter and wanted to give her a garland of gold coins for her marriage.At first he was very sad when everyone started buying the dolls made by Kishanlal.But later he accepted the new wave and welcomed Kishanlal as the grand son-in-law.

The old artist's son-in-law made and sold other lamps in the town
